Exfoliating skin is an important step of the skincare routine. It helps remove dead cells from the surface of the skin and improves its texture.

Glycolic acid is one of the chemical exfoliators that has the strongest Alpha hydroxy acids (AHAS). As per Dr upasana nagpal, a dermatologist, it is less effective on oily skin as it is a water-soluble acid..

The expert listed some of the benefits of glycolic acid-- it softens fine lines and wrinkles, helps in cellular turnover, exfoliates dead skin cells, and unclog pores.

Also, glycolic acid helps fade pigmentation, stimulates collagen production, and helps in better absorption of other ingredients

Dr upasana nagpalsuggested applying moisturiser after using glycolic acid as it might dry the skin. Also, sunscreen can be used as skin is sensitive to sun rays, especially when you use exfoliators.

The expert recommended including glycolic acid in the night-time skincare routine for the best results.
